Kamuela, also known as Woodland, is a census-designated place in Hawaii County, Hawaii, US. It is located on the Big Island and has a population of approximately 6,500. The town was founded in the late 19th century by Henry Nicholas Greenwell, a rancher and businessman. Kamuela is named after Greenwell's son, Samuel, with the Hawaiian language equivalent of "Samuel" being "Kamuela".
