Hico, Texas, US is a small town located in Hamilton County, established in the late 1800s. It was named after the Choctaw words "hic-ah," meaning "pine tree" and "okla," meaning "people." The town is known for its historic downtown area, which includes the Old Hamilton County Jail, built in 1885 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Hico is also famous for being the alleged last sighting place of the legendary outlaw, Billy the Kid.
