Sylacauga, Alabama, located in Talladega County, is known as the "Marble City" due to its abundance of fine marble. The city was incorporated in 1838 and played a role in the Civil War as a Confederate hospital center. It is famous for being the site of the first documented meteorite to injure a human, the Hodges Meteorite, which struck Ann Hodges in 1954. Sylacauga is also home to the Fendley Farmstead, a historic site featuring a Greek Revival house from the 1840s.
