Buda, Texas, located in Hays County, is a small city with a population of approximately 15,000. It was established in the 1880s as a railroad town and was originally known as Du Pre. The city was renamed Buda in 1887, after the Spanish word for "old", due to its location along the Old San Antonio Road. Buda is known for its historic downtown area, which features a variety of shops, restaurants, and the Stagecoach Park, a popular attraction with a playscape, walking trails, and picnic areas.
