It was originally a rural area that transformed into a military hub with the establishment of Andrews Air Force Base in 1942. The base, now known as Joint Base Andrews, is a notable landmark and serves as the home of two Boeing VC-25A aircraft, which are used as Air Force One when the President is on board. The CDP has since developed into a residential area with a mix of single-family homes, townhouses, and apartments.
