Amboy is a village in Lee County, Illinois, United States, with a population of approximately 2,500 as of the 2010 census. It was established in 1855 and named after Amboy, New York. The town is known for its well-preserved historic buildings, including the Amboy Depot, which was built in 1876 and is now a museum. The depot was once a stop on the Chicago, Burlington and Quincy Railroad. Amboy is also home to the "World's Largest Railroad Crossing" sign, which is a popular attraction for visitors.
