Sullivan, Ohio is a small village located in Ashland County in the northeastern part of the state. It was founded in 1816 and named after John Sullivan, a general in the American Revolutionary War. The village covers an area of 0.7 square miles and had a population of 1,581 as of the 2010 census. Sullivan is home to the Black Fork Granary, a notable landmark that was built in 1831 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The granary is a well-preserved example of early 19th-century grain storage architecture and is one of the oldest standing granaries in the United States.
