Granite Bay is a census-designated place (CDP) in Placer County, California, US. It is a suburban community located in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada mountains. The area was originally inhabited by the Nisenan, a branch of the Maidu tribe, before European settlers arrived in the mid-19th century. Granite Bay was named after the large granite rock formations in the area. The community is known for its high quality of life, excellent schools, and proximity to Folsom Lake, a popular destination for outdoor activities.
