Thomson, Georgia, US is a city in McDuffie County, established in 1853 and named after railroad engineer and surveyor Moses Clayton Thomson. It was incorporated as a town in 1854 and as a city in 1870. The city played a significant role during the Civil War, serving as a hospital town for Confederate soldiers.
