Grayson is a city in and the county seat of Carter County, Kentucky, US. Established in 1844, it was named after William Grayson, a Virginia statesman. The city was the site of the Battle of Grayson during the American Civil War. A notable attraction in Grayson is the Old Carter County Jail, which was built in 1873 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
