DeQuincy, Louisiana, located in Calcasieu Parish, was incorporated in 1907. The town was named after Edward A. DeQuincy, a chief engineer for the Kansas City, Pittsburgh and Gulf Railroad. The arrival of the railroad in the early 20th century spurred the area's growth, turning DeQuincy into a regional hub for timber and agriculture.
