Woodlawn, MD, US is a census-designated place in Baltimore County. It was originally part of the 1,750-acre estate of Major Edward Heyward, a Revolutionary War officer. The estate was later owned by David Stewart, who named it "Woodlawn" and built a mansion there in 1824. The mansion and surrounding 200-acre estate were acquired by the government in 1936 and are now part of the Woodlawn National Historic Site, which also includes the adjacent Sagamore Farm. The site is known for its historic architecture and scenic beauty.
