Crookston is a city in Polk County, Minnesota, United States. It was founded in 1872 and named after Colonel William Crooks, a Civil War veteran and the first president of the Northern Pacific Railway. The city is home to the University of Minnesota Crookston, which was established in 1966. A notable landmark in Crookston is the Sinclair Lewis Boyhood Home, which was the childhood residence of the Nobel Prize-winning author and is now a museum.
