Bellevue, Nebraska, located in Sarpy County, is the oldest continuous town in the state, having been established in 1855. It was originally a fur trading post and later became a stop on the Lewis and Clark trail. Bellevue has a rich military history, serving as a military outpost during the Civil War and later becoming home to Offutt Air Force Base. The community is also home to the Fontenelle Forest Nature Center, a 1,400-acre forested area with hiking trails and wildlife habitats. Today, Bellevue is a growing suburb of Omaha with a population of approximately 50,000 people.
