Chappaqua is a hamlet and census-designated place (CDP) in the town of New Castle, in Westchester County, New York, United States. It is located approximately 30 miles north of Manhattan. The name "Chappaqua" comes from the Native American word "Shapequa," which means "rustling land" or "place of shifting hills." The area was first settled in the early 18th century and was a farming community until the mid-19th century. A notable attraction is the Old Chappaqua Railroad Station, which was built in 1874 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
