Shamrock, Texas, US is a city in Wheeler County founded in 1902. It was named after the Irish shamrock symbol by the St. Patrick's Day celebration organizers. The city is known for its Conoco Phillips station, a restored 1930s gas station and tourist attraction, located on the famous U.S. Route 66. Shamrock experienced growth during the oil boom in the 1950s, and today, it has a population of approximately 1,900 people.
