Fairlawn, VA is a small town in Roanoke County, established in the late 1800s. It was originally a farming community, but the arrival of the Norfolk and Western Railway in the early 1900s led to its growth as a transportation hub. The town is home to the historic Fairlawn Railway Station, which was built in 1912 and is now listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Today, Fairlawn has a population of around 2,000 and is primarily a residential community.
