Bridgeport, West Virginia, US is a city in Harrison County, established in 1817. It was originally a farming community, but the arrival of the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad in the 1850s spurred its growth. During the Civil War, Bridgeport was the site of a Union supply depot. Today, it is known for the White Oaks Conference & Retreat Center, a popular venue for business meetings and special events. The city has a population of approximately 8,500 as of the 2020 census.
