Gordon, Alabama is a town in Houston County, established in 1885. It was named after James Gordon, a local merchant. The town was incorporated in 1907 and experienced growth due to the arrival of the Alabama Midland Railway. Gordon is home to the historic Hosea Holcombe House, built in 1893, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
