Heflin, Alabama, US is the county seat of Cleburne County, established in 1882 and incorporated in 1886. It was named after a Confederate general, Judge George W. Heflin. The city covers an area of 11.7 square miles and had a population of 3,400 as of the 2020 census. Heflin is home to the highest point in the state, Cheaha Mountain, which is protected within Cheaha State Park, a notable attraction offering hiking trails, a lodge, and stunning views.
