Pickensville, Alabama, US is a town located in rural western Alabama. It was established in 1820 and named after General Andrew Pickens, a Revolutionary War hero. The town was the county seat of Pickens County until 1866, when it was moved to Carrollton. Today, Pickensville is home to the historic Pickensville Mound, a Native American mound that is believed to have been built between 1200 and 1600 AD. The mound is a popular attraction for history buffs and archaeologists. The town has a population of around 600 residents.
