Bonita, California, US is an unincorporated community in San Diego County. It was part of the Rancho de la Nación Mexican land grant and later became a farming community in the late 19th century. The community was named Bonita, meaning "pretty" in Spanish, due to its picturesque setting. Bonita is home to the Sweetwater Summit Regional Park, a notable attraction with over 500 acres of open space, offering camping, hiking, and equestrian trails.
