Cripple Creek, Colorado, US is a historic mining town located in the south central part of the state. It was established in 1891 during the Pike's Peak Gold Rush and quickly grew to be one of the most prominent gold mining areas in the country. At its peak, the town had a population of over 10,000 people and 400 operating mines. Today, Cripple Creek is a popular tourist destination, known for its well-preserved historic buildings, including the Imperial Hotel, and the Cripple Creek & Victor Narrow Gauge Railroad, which offers scenic tours through the surrounding mountains.
