Dolores, Colorado, US is a small town founded in 1891 and named after the nearby Dolores River. It is located in Montezuma County, in the southwestern part of the state. The town was originally a railroad hub for the Rio Grande Southern Railroad. A notable attraction in Dolores is the Anasazi Heritage Center, a museum that showcases the history and culture of the Ancestral Puebloans who once inhabited the area. Today, Dolores has a population of around 1,000 people and serves as a gateway to outdoor recreational activities in the surrounding San Juan National Forest.
