Lafayette, Colorado, US is a city in Boulder County, established in 1888 and named after Lafayette Miller, a friend of the city's founder, Mary E. Young. It was originally a farming community, but its economy diversified with the discovery of oil and gas in the early 20th century. Today, Lafayette is a suburban community with a population of approximately 28,000 people. A notable attraction is the Coal Creek Golf Course, a public 18-hole course designed by Dick Phelps.
