Live Oak, Florida, US is the county seat of Suwannee County, established in 1858. The town was named for the live oak trees common to the area. During the Civil War, it was an important supply center for the Confederacy. Live Oak is home to the historic Suwannee County Courthouse, built in 1904, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
