Coosa, Georgia, US is a town in Floyd County, established in 1843. It was named after the Creek Indian word "Kusa," meaning "hawk." The town was a stop along the Western & Atlantic Railroad and played a role in the Civil War's Great Locomotive Chase. Coosa is home to the historic Coosa Valley Railroad Depot, which was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1992.
