Winston is a town in Douglas County, Georgia, US, established in the mid-19th century. It was named after General Edwin M. Winston, a Confederate officer. The town was originally a railroad depot and later became a center for textile manufacturing. Winston is home to the Sweetwater Creek State Park, a notable attraction known for its beautiful trails and the ruins of the New Manchester Manufacturing Company, a textile mill destroyed during the Civil War.
