Keosauqua is a small city in Van Buren County, Iowa, US, located along the Des Moines River. Established in 1838, it is the county seat and one of the oldest cities in the state. The city was named after a Native American chief, Ke-o-sau-qua, who lived in the area before European settlers arrived. A notable attraction in Keosauqua is the historic Hotel Manning, a Greek Revival-style building constructed in 1853, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
