Sergeant Bluff is a city in Woodbury County, Iowa, United States, with a population of approximately 4,500 as of 2020. The city was named after Sergeant Charles Floyd, a member of the Lewis and Clark Expedition who died in 1804 near present-day Sioux City. Incorporated in 1900, Sergeant Bluff has grown from a small farming community to a thriving city with a variety of businesses and amenities. A notable landmark in Sergeant Bluff is the Sergeant Floyd Monument, a 100-foot tall obelisk that honors the life and legacy of Sergeant Floyd.
