Rexburg, ID, US is the seat of Madison County, established in 1883 by Thomas E. Ricks and other Mormon settlers. The city is home to Brigham Young University-Idaho, which was founded as Ricks College in 1888. The city's growth was boosted by the construction of the Teton Dam in the 1970s, which unfortunately failed and flooded the area in 1976.
