Brookport, Illinois, US is a city located in Massac County, along the Ohio River. It was incorporated in 1835 and is the oldest city in the county. The city has a rich history in transportation, serving as a steamboat stop and later a railroad hub. A notable landmark is the Brookport Bridge, a vertical-lift bridge that connects Illinois and Kentucky, and is the only public road crossing of the Ohio River for 10 miles (16 km) upstream and 30 miles (48 km) downstream.
