Erie is a village located in Whiteside County, Illinois, United States. It was incorporated in 1872 and has a population of approximately 1,600 as of the 2020 census. The village is named after Erie, Pennsylvania, and was an important stop on the Chicago, Rock Island and Pacific Railroad. A notable attraction in Erie is the Erie Canal Park, which features a section of the historic Illinois Michigan Canal and a lockhouse that has been converted into a museum.
