Granite City, Illinois, US is a town located in Madison County, established in 1896 by the Niedringhaus brothers who owned the St. Louis Stamping Company. The city was named for the granite-like facings on its buildings, produced by the company. It is home to the Wilson Park, which features a notable landmark, the World's Fair Pavilion, a replica of the one in St. Louis from the 1904 World's Fair. Granite City has a rich industrial history and is known for its manufacturing sector.
