Hecker, Illinois is a village in Monroe County, established in 1857 and named after Johann Christoph Friedrich Hölderlin-Hecker, a German settler. The village covers a total area of 1.1 square miles and had a population of 490 as of the 2010 census. Hecker is known for its notable landmark, the St. Mary's Church, a large Gothic Revival structure built in 1890, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
