Woodlawn is a village in Jefferson County, Illinois, US, established in 1870. It was named after the Woodlawn Farm, owned by the village's first postmaster, John Denny. The village has a rich history in coal mining, with several mines operating in the area during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Today, Woodlawn is home to the historic Leander J. Cox House, a well-preserved example of Queen Anne architecture from the late 1800s.
