Eckerty, Indiana, US is an unincorporated community in Washington Township, Washington County. It was established in the mid-19th century and named after an early settler, John Eckerty. The community was a stop on the Underground Railroad, providing shelter to slaves escaping to freedom. The town's notable landmark is the Eckerty Covered Bridge, built in 1881, which is one of the few remaining covered bridges in the county.
