Fremont is a town in Steuben County, Indiana, US. It was platted in 1839 and named after John C. Frémont, an explorer and the first presidential candidate of the Republican Party. The town was incorporated in 1872. Fremont is home to the Fremont Old Mill State Historic Site, a grist mill built in 1838 that is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The town has a population of approximately 2,000 residents.
