Argillite is an unincorporated community in Johnson County, Kentucky, US. It is named after the local argillite rock formation and has a history dating back to the early 19th century. The community was once home to a post office, a school, and several churches. Today, Argillite is primarily a residential area, with a population of around 300. The community is known for the nearby Chief Logan State Park, a popular attraction with hiking trails, picnic areas, and a replica of a Native American council house.
