Corbin, Kentucky, located in Whitley and Knox counties, was established in the late 1800s and is known as the "Home of the First KFC." Colonel Harland Sanders, the founder of Kentucky Fried Chicken, operated a service station in Corbin during the Great Depression, where he served his famous fried chicken. The city also played a role in the development of the railroad industry, with the intersection of the Louisville and Nashville Railroad and the Cincinnati, New Orleans, and Texas Pacific Railway. Today, Corbin has a population of approximately 7,000 and offers a variety of outdoor recreational activities, including the Cumberland Falls State Resort Park.
