Jackson, Kentucky is the county seat of Breathitt County, located in the eastern part of the state. The town was established in 1807 and named after Andrew Jackson, the seventh President of the United States. During the Civil War, Jackson was a Confederate stronghold and was occupied by both Union and Confederate forces at different times. The town is home to the historic Daniel Boone Motel, which was built in the 1940s and features a unique architectural style reminiscent of a log cabin.
