Owenton, Kentucky, US is the county seat of Owen County. The town was established in 1798 and named after Colonel Abraham Owen, a local military leader. It was incorporated in 1822. The town is home to the Owen County Courthouse, a notable landmark built in 1910. The courthouse is a prominent example of Beaux-Arts architecture and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
