Stanford, Kentucky is a small city located in Lincoln County with a population of approximately 3,500 as of 2019. It was established in 1872 and named after its founder, local merchant Green Berry Stanford. The city is home to the historic Stanford Depot, which was built in 1911 and is now a museum showcasing the area's railroad history. Stanford is also the birthplace of Bluegrass music legend Bill Monroe, who was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 1970.
