Upton, Kentucky is a small town located in Hardin County, in the northern part of the state. It was established in 1872 and named after Dr. John Upton, an early settler. The town has a rich history in the coal mining industry. A notable attraction in Upton is the Squire Boone Caverns, a cave system named after Daniel Boone's brother, who is said to have discovered it in the late 1700s. Today, the caverns are a popular tourist destination, offering guided tours and other activities.
