Lake Arthur is a town in Jefferson Davis Parish, Louisiana, US, located on the shores of the large freshwater lake of the same name. The lake covers around 3,600 acres and was formed when the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway was constructed in the 1920s, causing a natural land bridge to form and block the flow of the Mermentau River. The town was incorporated in 1972 and is known for its recreational activities, including fishing, boating, and birdwatching, with over 200 species of birds sighted in the area. The Lake Arthur Wildlife Management Area, a notable attraction, offers hunting and wildlife viewing opportunities.
