Marion, LA, US is a town in Union Parish, established in 1839 and incorporated in 1890. It was named after General Francis Marion, a hero from the American Revolutionary War. The town is home to the Marion State Historic Site, which features the restored plantation home of Joseph E. Davis, William C.C. Claiborne's brother-in-law and the uncle of Confederate President Jefferson Davis. Marion has a rich history in agriculture, particularly cotton and timber, and was once a thriving commercial center.
