Athol, Massachusetts, US is a town in Worcester County, established in 1762 and incorporated in 1796. It was originally part of the Royal Grant of the "Equivalent Lands" to compensate soldiers of the King's army in the French and Indian War. The town is named after Atholl, a region in Scotland. Notable attractions include the Orange Memorial Library, which was given to the town by the Orange Foundation in 1903.
