East New Market, Maryland, US is a small town with a population of around 400, located in Dorchester County. It was founded in the 18th century and was an important stop on the Underground Railroad, a network of secret routes and safe houses used by enslaved African Americans to escape to freedom in the North. The town is home to the East New Market Train Station, a historic building that served as a stop on the Philadelphia, Wilmington and Baltimore Railroad and is now listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
