Columbus, Michigan is a small unincorporated community in the township of Columbia, Jackson County. It was first settled in the mid-1830s and experienced growth during the construction of the Detroit, Hillsdale and Indiana Railroad in the 1850s. The community was named after Christopher Columbus. The historic Columbia Bridge, built in 1883, is a notable landmark, known for its unique design and craftsmanship. Today, Columbus is a quiet residential area with a rich history.
