Port Sanilac, Michigan, US is a village in Sanilac County with a population of approximately 600 as of 2010. It was first settled in the 1840s and was originally known as "Bark Shanty." The village was renamed to its current name in 1857, after a local Native American chief. Port Sanilac is home to the Port Sanilac Lighthouse, which was built in 1886 and is still in use today. The lighthouse is a notable attraction and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
